PROTOR Vibration Monitoring Systems provide reliable on-line monitoring of Turbine Generator, Main Boiler Feed Pumps and other auxiliary plant equipment. Without health information on primary equipment such as turbines, pumps and associated equipment, impending faults go unnoticed and develop into conditions that result in failures. Failures may lead to unscheduled outages or more serious equipment damage with consequent loss of revenues.

Typical monitoring applications for PROTOR are:

Power Stations
  • Steam Turbines
  • Alternator-Generators
  • Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine/Compressors
  • Pumps (Boiler Feed, Feed Water etc.)
  • Gas Circulators
  • Auxiliary equipment (Pumps, Fans, Motors)
Heavy Plant
  • Steel Mills
  • Paper Mills
  • Machine vibration monitoring

PROTOR consists of one or more remote data acquisition systems (RMDAS units). Typically a single RMDAS unit may monitor an individual main turbine or a number of pumps or fans. The RMDAS units are connected together by standard ethernet This allows the units to be mounted close to the transducer signal source and hence avoid large cabling costs.

PROTOR supports the following:

  • Analyse bearing performance
  • Examination of critical modes
  • Data comparison at know speeds
  • More reliable trends
  • Ability to set up more accurate limits
  • Examination of blade frequencies
  • FFT processing of run-up/rundowns
  • Historical data storage
  • Better control of machine start-up
  • Statistical reports on History data

With PROTOR, operators and experts are better able to detect problems such as:

  • Shaft unbalance
  • Shaft rubs
  • Shaft bowing
  • Bearing faults
  • Misalignment
  • Shaft cracking
  • Looseness of rotating elements
  • Casing Distortion
  • Whirl problems
  • Balance piston rubs
  • Damaged sealing strips
  • Generator shorts
  • End winding vibrations
  • Blade response
  • Hub cracking
  • Foundation Distortion

Turbine

  • Continuous vibration monitoring
  • Online monitoring 24/7
  • Avoid unscheduled outages
  • Prevent equipment damage
  • Detect impending faults
  • Provide health information
  • Store historical data
  • Sophisticated alarm settings
  • Access via LAN, WAN, VPN
