The P8000 is a family of compact, rugged 24-bit data acquisition systems which support a range of transducer inputs. The tough casing and low power requirements makes it ideal for both mobile and laboratory use. The range starts with the P8004 four channel ultra-portable unit and larger P8000's can be stacked to expand the system up to 256 channels. Input/output options include analogue inputs (DC, AC, IEPE & charge), precision tacho inputs, analog output, thermocouples, GPS and CAN-Bus
The DATS Acquisition software has been carefully developed to integrate perfectly with both the P8000 hardware and the DATS software. The DATS Acquisition Software is a component of the basic DATS Professional package and is included in the basic price.
All of the attributes of the data capture are controlled from the setup matrix or grid. This interface is very easy to use, especially so if you are familiar with other Windows software such as Microsoft Excel. Each channel is represented by a row in the grid and each column a different setting. During setup a level indicator is shown for each channel to assist in setting gains and so on.
"Fast Access" buttons allow instant access to different setting groups, such as transducer configuration or tachometer information.
Several assistants are provided to make the setup process quick and efficient. Histogram range bars are shown to aid gain settings. A transducer database is available to avoid repeated data entry. TEDS is supported for transducers that support it.
Copy and paste facilities mean that similar channels can be configured very quickly. All setups can be saved and re-used.
Individual channels can be viewed and calibrated using the built-in calibration wizards. Wizards are provided for audio, tone, DC, DC + offset and shunt. Realtime time history, FFT and order graphs are all available during calibration.
Gains can be set automatically by simply chossing a percentage of the full ADC range to use. Overrange and transducer faults are automatically detected.
The DATS/P8000 software can be configured for either manual, triggered and pre-triggered captures. A "Quick Capture" mode allows multiple captures with similar settings to be captured and saved incrementally. For large data captures the data can be repeatedly captured while previous captures are being written to disk. For repeated captures the software will automatically increment numeric filenames.
The DATS Acquisition Scheduler can be used to schedule an unlimited number of data captures at a user specified time and of defined duration.
A wide range of real-time displays are provided including time histories, frequency spectra, waterfall plots, bar graphs and needle gauges. The individual displays can either be placed automatically in a grid layout or positioned separately by the user. The integrated layout manager is used to assist in customizing a layout. Any layout of real-time displays can be saved and used later in other tests.

Part of the setup process is to determine what processing is required. The RapidResults facility allows channels to be tagged for processing.
Currently options include ASD, Third Octave, Waterfall and Order plots. Additionally, the RapidResults software will average several runs, convert from acceleration to velocity and form resultants of triax channels. Results are available immediately after the capture and are stored on disk for examination, further processing or report preparation.
The data capture software is fully supported in the DATS Visual Scripting and BASIC Scripting facilities and so can be easily integrated into automatic capture and analyze applications. The DATS Project Manager ensures that information about the current project, test or measurement campaign are stored with all data that is captured.
