The refinement of vehicles and rotating machines with respect to Noise and Vibration is central to creating a successful product. Not just making less noise, but also making the "right" noise can be important in the overall success of any manufacturing endeavor.

One of the fundamental parts of the DATS NVH package is the analysis of rotating components and key to this is waterfall analysis. DATS can analyze the original time history and produce waterfalls of either frequency or order v. rotational speed. These can be viewed in a number of ways.
Order lines are easily extracted from waterfall plots. The user has full control over which orders are extracted and the extraction bandwidths.
As well as orders, various sound metrics (Loudness, Speech Articulation Index, Composite Rating Performance value, High Frequency factor, Preferred Speech Interference Level, Spectral Balance, Speech Interference Level and so on) can be extracted as functions of rotational speed or time.
The DATS Octave analysis performs octave band analysis using 1/Nth octave filters. Here is an example third octave plot.
